Whenever I learn about a project/event that was flawed due to lack of foresight, I try to take note of how that lesson could be applied more generally.


  • Top down (those in charge make change) vs bottom up (people make change)
  • Don't choose one or other. Find the middle
  • Rules avoid disaster but ensure mediocrity
  • Adding incentives (money?) when people already feel like they an obligation just creates competing concerns. Suddenly they think in terms of "well that's not that much money, so why bother" and they don't want to take action.
