[edit] Meetings

  • Have mediation training for the senators to help them be as effective as possible. The mediation center (?) does these trainings for free. Ask Tina Snodgrass.
  • Workshops on how to be a part of Senate meeting
  • Introductory packet for people to look at as the meetings go on when the walk in the door, so they know how to make comments, etc. Have these laminated and collected at the end to save paper.
  • Hold meetings in larger room.
  • Dress code to increase professionalism?

[edit] Accessibility

  • Have a liaison for people making presentations for funding. Explain the process.
  • Make sure all proposals are in the best state possible before being heard by senate
  • Make a 2 minute video explaining the various parts of the ASUO, what they do and how they relate to one another.
  • Have a better transition from filling out a special request to getting it signed. It shouldn't be intimidating and confusing to find a senator and have them sign something for you.
  • mirror everything sent to senate@uoregon.edu or programsasuo@uoregon.edu on the site somewhere for public record!
  • Use sharepoint for exec and senate.
  • Have a "perfect special request" advice sheet. Use the request we did for PowerShift West as a template.

[edit] Website Stuff

  • Have the website on the front page of the UO website during the first week of the term
  • Have good calendar/spreadsheet with office hours. Time/place. Week by week since they change often.
  • Have a "dollars at work" blog on the ASUO site so people can see where money is being spent!
  • Allow senators to send out messages to all their constituents in an easy fashion
  • Diagrams explaining
    • Flow of meetings and roberts rules
    • Reimbusements
    • Money transfers, requests
    • Any common use scenario
  • Have a "govtrack" section of the ASUO website where you can see how your senators are voting
  • Daniel Bachuber's idea for an ASUO wiki: http://www.copress.org/2009/02/18/whats-in-a-news-wiki/
  • ASUO program finder
    • let people do a short survey about their intersts and perosnailty and match them up with a list of 5-10 programs.
    • Or just make a directory of all programs and let each program list themselves under 3 categories.
  • ASUO program calendar
  • Place to host digital copies of bilaws. Especially useful during transition.
  • Shared calendar for all events that come up in special requests or are announced during announcements.

[edit] Elections

  • Next year, send out a campus-wide message telling people voting has started (for primaries and generals)

[edit] OBETCC

  • Write something into the senate bilaws about being required to submit a new application every year so we get more money from it.
